As I sit here and write this on my brand new Macbook Air and contemplate a day of working from home as an editor, I have to say 37 looks like a pretty good year for me. I’ll be leaving with Holly in a bit to go get my free birthday Grand Slam from Denny’s and then for lunch we’ll be getting my 10 free boneless wings from Hooters. Normally we also go out to dinner for my birthday, but I’m kind of restauranted out so we’ll be having a cookout at my in-laws instead, which just sounds perfect.
I think 37 seems pretty young for where I am in my life and that’s pretty cool. For a while I felt too old for where I was in my life, but then Becky and the kids came along to drag me into adulthood at warp speed and I couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, I could certainly be healthier. I need to eat better, exercise more, and be nicer to those around me, but it’s good to have goals, right? Later this week I’ll be heading off to Albany for Bouchercon to catch up with some of my most favorite people in the world. Two years ago I was at Bouchercon on my actual birthday which was fun, but I’m glad this year to be celebrating it at home with family instead.
So thanks to everyone out there who helped make me who I am and who helped make this year so great. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for me.
