I made it to Milwaukee just fine yesterday. Thanks. The drive was a breeze and the only traffic trouble I encountered was when I stopped off at an outlet mall out by O’Hare Airport to exchange my briefcase again (more on that in a separate post).
I’m writing this on the couch in the Jordan’s house and I’m all alone. It’s kind of cool to have this kind of trust installed upon me, no matter how misguided it is on their part. I’ve been coming to Milwaukee and staying here for more than 8 years now and this is the first time I’ve been upgraded to the guest room. I feel so special and will try not to blow the opportunity. But it all got me thinking about how great Jon and Ruth Jordan are for this community of readers and writers.
Anyway, I had fun last night playing Cards Against Humanity, which is a delightfully diabolical game if you play it right. I never used to be a big fan of card and board games (with the exception of Monopoly which I have always loved and a brief obsession with Settlers of Catan) , but Becky’s family loves them and it seems more and more people are playing them which is cool. We tried to play Candy Land with the kids but I think they are still too little for board games just yet. They do like Uno though and picked up on it pretty quickly. I think my mother-in-law plays Sorry once in a while with Holly too. But as they get older, I look forward to family game nights.
I also got to see my special hetrosexual partner Frank Wheeler, his wife, and her sister. It was cool because they now consider me family. I guess their gene pool wasn’t deficient enough so they needed to add me in for variety. I will get to see him again tonight when he and I and other read at Noir at the Bar Milwaukee, which I am very much looking forward to. Onward toward the rest of the day. How is your Saturday going?
