This probably isn’t going to help my reputation any…

…but i was talking to a friend today and during the conversation I confessed my secret desire to write a Chick Lit novel. I love reading them and I love watching them on TV and in the movies. This should not be shocking coming from someone who considers Freddie Prinz Jr. on eof our finest actors. She asked me what pseudenym I’d write under and I said I’d want to do it under my own name. There are pleanty of guys who do this stuff well, namely Nick Hornby, one of my favorite writers. Weel this friend encouragement to get started on this book and seeing as how I’m frustrated with the ending of my mystery novel it seemed like a good idea to concentrate on something else, something that didn’t involve placing clues or complex schemes being hatched.

So tonight, for the first time in about two months I wrote my quota of pages for the day. I wrote about 1200 words, or 4 1/2 pages of the first scene for my new Chick Lit novel LADIES MAN. The story follows a young man in Detroit who has plenty of female friends but can’t find Ms. Right. It will be interesting to see how this goes. It may run out of steam at 20 pages or more but I consider it the literary equivalent of sherbet to cleanse my palete. And my writing profesor has been telling me for a while to experiment something other than crime fiction. This should make him REAL happy.
