The Short Goodbye

This is going to be my last post here. I just don’t have the energy anymore. All of the little details of my new life that I wave around here should be getting pushed back into my novel for depth and characterization. I want to be a professional writer and I want to write the best damn book I can and that’s going to require all of my limited energy.

I got what I needed out of this thing. I made some friends, made some contacts, and pissed some people off. All of that will come in handy when I get this book done. But for right now, that’s all I’m working on in the book. It’s a first person PI novel that going to be a honest reflection of my view on the world at this time in my life. That’s what I need to be writing.

So thank you to all of the people who have made this last three and a half years amazing.

The comments are open to say your goodbyes.

  1. Did Guyot talk you into this? What the hell? No more whining? No more blogging? Damn it Guyot.. what did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO???

  2. Well, you’d better keep in touch with me or I’m coming up there and kick your you know what.

  3. Bryon, say it isn’t so. … I’d say yours has been one of my favorite blogs. So honest. So candid. … But I see your points. Time to focus on that book project. And I like the approach you’re taking with it.

    Best of luck

  4. Bryon,

Dude. Thug Lit: Hardcore Hardboiled is on the shelves!!! (Some of them anyway) Your first anthology!!! I came here expecting excitement and good cheer, and this is what I get—the short goodbye. Damn, way to kill a buzz.

Seriously, you’re making the right decision. Family first. Book second. Blog a distant third. And see that speck on the horizon, that little black spot, that’s sleep. Get some now before it’s too late.

  5. Three and a half years is a pretty damned good run. But a blog is just a blog and writing is always more important. If clearing that brain space helps you then go for it.

On the other hand … you’ll be back. We know you will. 🙂

  6. are you serious?!?!? last post EVER?!?!??!? but why? i mean – why? or better yet – WHY?!?!?!?!? I know you’re having a baby and working and married and writing a book but come on – what did Blogging ever do to you????

    anyway obviously you’ll be missed.

but obviously not that much since it took me a week to notice you were leaving. 🙂

  7. Finding balance is tough, I know. But between family, writing, work and blogging, there is no question about what should be your priority.

I’ll miss your voice here, and the chronicle of your struggles. Check in now and then so we’ll know how the new family’s faring.

We all have a great affection for you.

    But you knew that.
