Sharp Dressed Man

My short story Sharp Dressed Man in live at the issue of Defenestration Magazine. It’s a sorta retelling of The Emperor’s New Clothes with a superhero theme. I originally wrote it as a 10 minute play in a playwriting class a few years ago, but didn’t like how it worked on stage. Last year I dusted it off and rewrote it as a short story and liked it much better. I wasn’t having a lot of luck placing it anywhere though and it was rejected quite a few times until a couple of weeks ago when it was accepted by two magazines almost simultaneously. I went with the first mag who responded to me. Read it, enjoy it, and let me know what you think.

Duane should like the Robocop reference.

  1. Bryon,That is fantastic! I cracked up over the line about Mr. Wayne being and idiot and not familiar with superhero lore. Way to go — great dialogue.NJ

  2. i approve this story wholeheartedly.to me this is a story that really captures your sense of humor and “eccentricity”, if you will.In other news, I just noticed you have the word “Defenestration” on the side of your blog and I feel strange about that.
