Saturday Photo: Free School Santa Edition

Last night at Spenser’s school they had Pizza with Santa, which is really as simple as it sounds. After eating pizza and going through the Santa Store (the contents of a cheap toy catalog dumped onto card tables and doubled in price to help fund the PTO) the kids could have their picture taken with Santa. Holly popped right up there and started telling Santa she wanted ponies but looked confused as Santa went off on a tear about how she needed stalls and all this crap, not realizing she was talking about My Little Pony.

Spenser took more convincing because he’s shy around fictional characters. He also didn’t believe this was the real Santa because his breath smelled bad. One of the best lines of the night came from Spenser as well. When I told him to tell Santa his name, Spenser said that Santa already knew his name. And then something dawned on him and he said, “If he knows my name, why do I have to tell him what I want for Christmas?” I was at a loss for a decent answer so mumbled something non-committal about assistants and such and tried to change the subject. These are the pictures that resulted from the event.
