Kelly Girl

My girl is coming to town! Saturday I bought tix for me and the girlfriend to go see Kelly Clarkson in concert on August 10. She’s already been to see her when she was touring with Clay Aiken but I haven’t seen Ms. Kelly at all yet. This is only the third pop concert I’ll have been to, mostly because I haven’t had anybody to go with.

I’ve been to quite a few country concerts with my dad or hillbilly friends, but the last pop concert I went to was Metallica’s Summer Sanitarium tour about five years ago. Before that was Billy Joel and Elton John when I was in high school. Both great concerts, but I think this one is going to be the bestest ever.

What’s your best concert story? Any concerts you’re ashamed to admit you attended?

  1. Kelly Clarkson? Really? Is this where we can start making fun of you? OK, I have her last CD – hidden in the backroom where visitors can’t see it.Best concerts: Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Paul McCartney (which of these things is not like the other?), Godsmack, Sarah McLaughlin, Queen Latifah, Sting, Third Eye Blind, and the best concert experience anyone can have: Jimmy Buffett (6 times!)

  2. I went to Van Halen’s first ever concert with Sammy Hagar, and even got one of Sammy’s picks when he flipped a few into the audience at the end of the show.

  3. I saw Van Halen, too, at least that’s what I was told the next day. I have no real memory of that except that I got lost trying to find the ladies’ room at the New Haven Coliseum.First concert: John Denver. (Come on, I was 12).

  4. First concert, when I was 14 — The Clash opening for The Who … in Oakland. … Was also the first time someone offered to sell me drugs.Have fun, Bryon.
