As the phoenix rises from the ashes or a flesh-eating zombie rises from the dead craving human eyeballs, so has my love life risen. I have a date today. At a mall. God help us all…

*UPDATE* Well, the date was a bust. It was the most painful 45 minutes of boredom in my life. People like that should have warning labels. But, a trip to Ann Arbor is NEVER a waste. First I hit the Salvation Army where I picked up a lovely t-shirt with flying monkeys on it for only $.99. Then I hit Aunt Agathas where I picked up a copy of the new issue of Crimespree Magazine featuring my short story LOAD and gleefully waved it around the store shouting about my load in a magazine. I also purchased a copy of Trouble is What I Do autographed by Rob Kantner and Joe Konrath, and a used copy of Stephen King’s Hardcase Crime novel The Colorado Kid.

Now I’m on my way to the basement of the downtown library branch for their booksale. who knows what I may find there…

  1. nest time you’re in AA, go to Kaleidoscope on State Street a few door past Urban Outfitters. He has a fabulous collection of vintage paperbacks, all the usual suspects and most are affordable. Plus he’ll talk to you forever about when Ross Mc Donald was still Kenneth Millar. Too bad about the bust though.
